Anglin Funeral Home: Past & Present

In 1951 Herman Anglin began his funeral service career and in 2011 he celebrated 60 years of service to the citizens of Stewart County. Though retired, he continues to be an important part of Anglin Funeral Home today.

Presently Herman's sons, Wayne and Mark, along with his grandchildren Amanda and Landon share in the daily operations of the funeral home.

Our Story: The Founding

Our story begins with the original owners of Anglin Funeral Home. In 1936 Misers G. C. Milligan and John T. Ridgeway founded Milligan and Ridgeway Funeral Home and they continued their partnership until 1960. The funeral home then became Milligan Funeral Home. In 1970 Mr. Milligan retired from his 34 years of service and sold the firm to his employee of 19 years Herman and his wife Margie Link Anglin. The name Milligan Funeral Home remained until 1973 when the name was changed to Anglin Funeral Home.

From Civil War to the Present

Anglin Funeral Home is located near the banks of the Cumberland River in the heart of the small southern town of Dover, Tennessee. Our town is home to the Civil War battlefields of Fort Donelson fought in February 1862 as well as the Battle of Dover in February 1863. Stewart County is also home of the Land Between the Lakes, Cross Creek Wildlife Refuge and is in the south western portion of Fort Campbell, home of the 101st Airborne Division. Stewart County, Tennessee is not only a rural county with rich local history, but it has a rich state and national history as well.

The physical structure of Anglin Funeral Home has been a part of this rich history. In 1863, Dr. James Smith, physician to both the Confederate and Union soldiers, built the home which now houses our firm.
